缅因州（Maine）位于美国的东北角的新英格兰地区。西南方与新罕布什尔州为邻。西北和东北边境分别毗邻加拿大，南临大西洋，西接新罕布什尔州。面积8.6 万平方千米，人口127万人（2000）。首府奥古斯塔。

缅因州位于美国本土的东北端，是新英格兰地区面积最大的州，境内森林密布，景色幽美。

地形主体为新英格兰高地，地面波状起伏，海拔 600 米左右，中部卡塔丁山海拔1606米，为全州最高峰。西北部为崎岖的怀特山区，东南部多狭窄的局部沿海低地，海岸曲折，多港湾，岸外小岛棋布。最早居民为印第安人。
